"Fun, self-help books like yours can change societies!"

I have been savoring delicious and simple whole food meals for decades.

But when I was a kid, sugar was my favorite food!

I heaped spoonfuls of sugar on my breakfast cereal, topped off my lunch with cookies, twinkies, cupcakes or candy, and spent my pocket money on sweets. After dinner? More ice cream and treats!

That all changed in 1980 when I started cooking and enjoying sugar-free, dairy-free whole foods meals.

I shortly discovered that what I thought was my personality and fragile immune system (constant mood swings, allergies and colds) was just the side-effects of a diet high in sugar and lots of other processed foods.

As I was learning how a sugar-free diet changed my whole being, I was also researching and experiencing how eating locally grown, organic whole foods can balance body, mind and moods.

Excited to share my discoveries with my community, I taught cooking classes for 8 years. Chapter-by-chapter, I typed and hand-illustrated this playful, whole foods primer as a guide for my students.

Their glowing feedback encouraged me to self-publish, and over 250,000 copies sold!

While the paperback is now out-of-print, I'm happy to share this ebook edition with you.

May you be inspired to cook for health and planetary well-being!
